How to Enable Users as Drivers or Messengers for Assignment

This guide explains how to configure existing user roles within the web portal to allow them to be assigned as either drivers or messengers for package deliveries. This makes them available in the assignment dropdowns when managing items.

A Driver is a user role designed for delivery personnel who are delivering between multiple physical locations. To be a driver, the user must begin with a Manager assignment.

A Messenger is a user role designed for delivery personnel who are delivering within one physical location. To be a Messenger, the user role may be scoped as either a Manager or an Operator to begin.

Steps to Enable Driver/Messenger Roles:

  • Navigate to the 'Users' Tab in the web portal.
  • For a Driver: Identify and select a user who has a 'Manager' Role. Then, toggle on their assignment as a Driver, Messenger, or both.
  • For a Messenger: Identify and select a user who has an 'Operator' Role. Click on their entry to toggle on or off their Messenger assignment

Upon enabling this setting, the respective users will become available in the dropdown selection lists when you are assigning items as either a driver or a messenger. They will only be available for assignment to items associated with the locations that their roles are already permitted to access or manage.
